Simplifying contemporary art galleries in New York City

making the video

New Videos (almost)

The tutorial videos are updated! It took a lot longer than I planned - changing the screenshots and adding some content. There's still a few changes I want to make but they're good enough to post. If you didn't already watch them on the main page, here they are:

Images & YouTube Remixes

The new version of TTP is almost ready.  I say "ready" and not "done" because there are dozens of improvements and additions to come this year.

The most noticeable change is the inclusion of images for every show.  I'm using whatever image the gallery is using to promote the show - which tends to be both enticing and vague.

Testing Testing Testing

I wasn't happy with my first animation test.  The camera moved under the pressure of my finger every shot, resulting in a jittery clip.  To fix the problem, I constructed the set up pictured below: I made a new "tripod" out of wood that is connected to the "set" in one piece (so if the camera moves, the set moves with it).  I used clay to secure the camera solidly.

Typing sounds

I'm making a short "teaser" video for the new website.  I needed the sound of a keyboard typing for a small section of the movie.  Since my laptop keyboard is too quiet, I hovered an old keyboard over my mac (near the microphone) and recorded the sound in imovie.

Learning to sculpt

While the work to remake "the two percent" is only just beginning, I've already started planning the video to introduce it.  Because the next movie will actually be a series of shorts, I thought that now would be a great time to do something I didn't have time to do in the last video: claymation.

A few claymation websites recommended "Van Aken" plastalina clay.
